Regulation (EU) 2016/426 and gas torches
Short answer. Portable gas torches sold in the EU are appliances burning gaseous fuels under Regulation (EU) 2016/426. They need assessment by a notified body, CE marking and an EU declaration of conformity, and the importer must be named on the product or packaging.
Key steps
- EU type-examination (Module B) by a notified body against standards such as EN 521.
- A production-conformity module covering series production.
- EU declaration of conformity and CE marking.
- Instructions and warnings in the language of the country of sale.
