Why does a butane torch sputter?
Short answer. Most often the torch was lit right after refilling, so liquid butane reaches the nozzle. Wait a minute or two, keep the torch upright, and check that the gas is not too cold and the nozzle is clean.
Fixes
- Wait after refilling before lighting.
- Hold the torch upright, not tilted down.
- Warm a cold torch to room temperature.
- Clean a cool nozzle with a soft brush.
